As I’ve mentioned before, I’ve got a Nissan Leaf, and that takes power to charge every day. People often forget about that when they buy electric cars. I’ve only got 153/kWh left from my power utility on tier 1 (.23) before I enter tier 2 (.40) and only 13 days into my billing cycle. As soon as this happens the cost of my commute jumps from $1.90/day to $3.42/day. I guess I will have to tell my family they cannot cook, do laundry or turn on any lights, hair dryers or computers! Good thing I have a small solar system which has generated 182 kWh already or I’d be in tier 2 today.
