Inspirational Dr Seuss Quotes You Can Apply to Life & Finances

This month marks what would have been Theodor Seuss Geisel’s 115th birthday. It is celebrated on March 2nd in schools with the Read Across America event. Growing up with Dr Seuss, I remember reading Marvin K Mooney Will You Please Go Now! to my first grade class. The Money Vikings thought it would be fun to reflect on some of the optimistic thoughts and ideas he’s shared with readers young and old everywhere. Dr. Seuss lived and worked most of his life in San Diego. His wisdom can apply to our lives and finances in many ways, here are a few examples:

Green Eggs and Ham (Try New Things)

In Green Eggs and Ham, Dr Seuss teaches us to try new things, even if we have a preconceived notion that we will not like it. Perhaps you only invest in commodities like gold and silver– but you are thinking of also trying some dividend stocks? Perhaps you are a stock investor, but should perhaps consider diversification by looking into tax free municipal bonds. They certainly aren’t as colorful as the FAANG (Facebook, Amazon, Apple, Netfilx, Google) stocks but you might like them, you may see! Being open to new information is important when investing. It takes some effort and committment to learn about investing and personal finance and perfect your skill set. But if you do, you may see more green! 🙂

Cat in the Hat (How much trouble can you handle?)

In Cat in the Hat, Dr Seuss builds up a series of crazy antics, each one getting deeper and deeper into trouble until the whole mess implodes upon itself and needs to be cleaned up. Perhaps you are playing games with a short TSLA position and you are worried that once the $35,000 price reduction takes effect, the stock will soar and you will lose all your money? Perhaps you’ve taken on too much risk with naked puts and need to slowly remove the boat from your portfolio before it falls into a cake?

Seuss Inspirational Quotes!

Here ere are 6 wonderful quotes to ponder as you walk through the zoo of life:

“Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.”

“You’ll miss the best things if you keep your eyes shut. Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple.”

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”

“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”

“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose.”

I think these are great to remember as we experience life, work, play, love, etc. Keep reading, learning, striving and growing in your own way!
